In a few weeks, your child will be taking the Iowa Assessments (formerly known as the ITBS or ITED)
The Iowa Assessments provide information about your child in a variety of important content areas including Reading, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
- The Iowa Assessments help determine how students are performing on the state curriculum as described in the Iowa Core Curriculum.
- The Iowa Assessments measure student growth and progress from year to year.
- The Iowa Assessments help teachers identify a student's strengths and identify areas that may need additional emphasis. The assessments produce information that enable sound decision making and provide a focus for teachers to evaluate their instruction.
- The Iowa Assessments provide information about your child's performance relative to the school, the state of Iowa, and the nation.
- At Marshalltown High School, test scores and student proficiency on the Iowa Assessments can impact class placement and access to dual enrolled college course.
Success on the Iowa Assessments is used as an indicator of your student's academic progress, as well as the overall progress of our schools. There are many ways you can help your student prepare for Success on the Test. Ensuring they get enough sleep the night before and a healthy breakfast the morning of testing are both easy ways to make sure your student arrives ready to do their best.
