CONCERT BANDS

On Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, nine Marshalltown students auditioned for the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association Honor Band.  The students are divided into two ensembles of 90 members each: a 9th- and 10th-grade band and an 11th- and 12th-grade band. The following students were selected: Sarah Allen on Bb Clarinet, Therese Kuhlman on Flute, Analisa Iole on Bb Clarinet, Michaela Huey on Bb Clarinet and Trace Ohrt on Percussion.  The Honor Band Festival will be held Jan. 7, 2012, at Drake University.

On Friday and Saturday ,Feb 3 and 4, nine Marshalltown students will participate in the Cyclone Honor Band. Chair auditions will be held on Friday morning and rehearsals with guest conductors will be Friday and Saturday. The concert will be held in C.Y. Stephens Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, and Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, nine Marshalltown students were selected to participate in the Drake Honor Band.  Students were selected through a nomination process and placed into a 90-member ensemble comprised of students in grades 9th-12th or a 60-member ensemble of primarily 11th and 12th grade students.  Students rehearsed, received small group clinics on their instruments, attended concerts by the Drake University ensembles and presented a concert on Saturday afternoon.  The following students attended the festival;  Aaron Jacobson on flute/piccolo, Matt Hannam on tenor sax, Hanna Carter on trombone, Emma Runquist on flute, Ellen Podhajsky on flute, Jordan Cline on euphonium, Eric Weinberg on trumpet, Niccole Wolken on alto sax, Hannah Stone on clarinet.
