Lenihan PBIS
Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports
Has your child been recognized for doing his or her job here at Lenihan? Have you heard about tickets at your house? We are continuing a school-wide behavior plan called Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). We want to help your student be an excellent learner! When teachers design great lessons and students do their jobs and choose positive behaviors, learning can happen every day for every student. Everyone who shares a part of your child’s day at Lenihan is part of his or her coaching team. Teachers, para-professionals, substitute teachers, custodians, lunchroom staff, nurses, counselors, office staff, bus drivers, special support staff are all working to reward and recognize your child when he or she makes good choices.
Our Positive Behavior Intervention Support has five major components to ensure school-wide success:
1.Educational strategies to learn what it means to follow the CATS way
2. Positive encouragement and acknowledgement when students demonstrate appropriate behavior
3. Tracking of minor and major behavior incidences so school-wide and classroom decisions can be made
4. Analyzing data from minor and major referrals for academic and behavior interventions
5. Consistent consequences.
