Lenihan Intermediate School students donned Halloween costumes and delivered treats to residents at the Iowa Veterans Home after school on Oct. 28.
It was what they called “reverse trick-or-treating” and 42 students from the student leadership group Ricochet participated in the event.
Students not only delivered treats but also were able to interact with the veterans, as smiles were apparent from both sides.
Lenihan teacher Diane Simpson, who helps lead Ricochet, said it’s important for the students to connect with other generations, especially the veterans at Iowa Veterans Home.
“We are trying to branch out,” Simpson said.
