2023 MCSD School Board Election Information

On Nov. 7, 2023, Marshalltown voters will elect four members to the Marshalltown Community School Board of Directors. All four seats will serve a four-year term, until 2027.

Candidates must be an “eligible elector” in the school district at the time of the election, which includes meeting all requirements to register to vote, but the candidate does not have to be registered to vote.

An eligible elector must be:

  • A citizen of the United States.
  • A resident of Iowa.
  • At least 18 years old.

An eligible elector may not:

  • Be a convicted felon (unless voting rights have been restored by the president or governor, including via Executive Order).
  • Be currently judged incompetent to vote by a court.
  • Claim the right to vote in any other place.

Interested candidates may file their nomination papers with Board Secretary Randy Denham from Monday, Aug. 28 through Thursday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. Copies of nomination papers can be obtained from the school board secretary, the county auditor’s office, or on the Secretary of State’s website. Candidates may contact the school board secretary for the full packet of information or for any questions about the process.
