Free meals program for children 18 years old and younger

The MCSD Food Service Department will continue to serve free meals to children 18 years old and younger while the District moves to remote continuous learning beginning Thursday, Nov. 12. Here are key things for students and families to know about our free meals program: 

  • Meals can be picked up by the child, their parent or guardian, or a responsible sibling

  • Any child can pick up a meal at any of the locations listed below, regardless of their usual building of attendance

  • Beginning Thursday, Nov. 12, all elementary school buildings will be open for meal pick up from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday

  • Lenihan Intermediate School, Miller Middle School, and Marshalltown High School will continue to be open from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday for meal pickup; on Fridays, children will receive extra meals for the weekend

  • The District will resume the Meals Close to Home mobile meals program using school buses - see the full Meals Close to Home bus route schedule here

  • Families can arrange an alternate meal pick-up time if necessary - please call the MCSD Food Service Office at 641-754-1185 to request a meal pick-up by appointment.
