Bobcat senior was a four-time state medalist
The Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association has named Marshalltown High School’s Natalie Henson as one of it’s 2025 Spring Players of the Year.
Henson, who played at the Iowa Girls’ High School State Golf Tournament in all four of her years as a Bobcat, shared the honor with Morgan Rupp of Linn-Mar and Ainsley Wilson of Iowa City West.
The trio comprised the top-three finishers at this spring’s state meet at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City, with Rupp winning her third state title in the process. Rupp shot 69-72 for a 3-under-par 141, Wilson went 68-74–142, and Henson finished at 74-71–145.
Henson’s 1-under-par 71 was the low round of the second day.
In four years of qualifying, Henson finished 22nd, ninth, fourth and third in the season-ending state tournament.
Henson will continue her golf career collegiately at the University of Nebraska Omaha. She committed to the Mavericks in the fall, and intends to major in aviation.
Over the course of the spring season, Henson posted the low combined adjusted scoring average among 4A golfers (37.12) — just ahead of Wilson (37.49) and Rupp (37.99).
Henson also excelled in the season-ending co-ed state tournament, where she was a four-time medalist. Teaming with former Bobcat Ryan Schmit, Henson captured ninth, first and seventh place in respective co-ed state tournaments before joining fellow Marshalltown senior Ty Faltys for this year’s meet. The duo took third place at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.
