MASON CITY — The Marshalltown boys’ golf team improved to 5-1 in dual meet action with a 152-159 win over host Mason City on Tuesday at Highland Park Golf Course.

MHS sophomore Joe Greazel had two birdies on the front nine to earn medalist honors with his round of 2-under-par 34. Mason City’s Will Schissel was runner-up with a 37.

The Bobcats also got scoring rounds from senior Trae Misek (38), Jacob Seberger (39) and matching 41s by Parker Christen and Bryson Payne.

Misek’s round was his competitive best as a Bobcat.

“A day after Parker Christen sets a new career-low, Trae Misek goes out and does the same,” said MHS head coach Lucas Johnson. “It’s great to be getting strong scores from guys up and down the lineup and shows what our potential could be on a day when everyone comes to play.”

The Bobcats’ five best scores all finished ahead of Mason City’s fourth-best round of the day.

“We played Mason City earlier this year up there and got beat, so I was glad to see the team take that course knowledge and use it to help pull out the win over one of the better teams in the Alliance Conference,” Johnson added.

Marshalltown makes its way out to the links again today for its third meet in as many days, visiting Copper Creek Golf Club for the Southeast Polk Invite at 9 a.m. in Pleasant Hill.
