CEDAR RAPIDS — The Marshalltown boys’ golf team shot a season-high 351 and slid to last place at the 18-team Cedar Rapids Washington Warrior Invite on Tuesday at Cedar Rapids Country Club.

Bobcat junior Joe Greazel tied for the ninth-best round of the tournament with a 1-over-par 73 that included three birdies, but he was the only Marshalltown golfer within 17 strokes of par.

Cedar Rapids Xavier won the invitational with a 1-under-par team total of 287, while West Des Moines Valley (293) and Johnston (297) gave chase.

The Bobcats were just one shot back of Cedar Rapids Kennedy (350) in 17th.

Also contributing to Marshalltown’s team score were junior Jacob Seberger with a 90, sophomore Bryson Payne with a 92, and sophomore Gavin Misek at 96.

Parker Christen, a junior, shot 97, while senior Trae Misek scored 105.

West Des Moines Valley’s Braeden Nelson shot an impressive round of 7-under 65 to claim medalist honors ahead of Xavier’s Harrison Hartke, who shot 4-under 68. Six players shot under par in the tournament.
