Lenihan Intermediate School brings together students from all six district elementary schools for fifth and sixth grade, while still maintaining a small-school atmosphere through the use of neighborhoods.

At Lenihan students receive instruction in the core subjects of reading, language arts, social studies, math and science. Students also participate in physical education, vocal music and art. Students may choose to be involved in chorus, orchestra and band.

The transition from elementary to intermediate school is made easy through the many efforts of Lenihan staff. Principals and the school counselors visit elementary schools and talk with students and parent organizations and events like Parent Orientation, Parent Open House and Back to School Night help students and families feel comfortable in their new school.

Once at Lenihan, students have the same teacher for both years, as the teacher loops with the students as they move from fifth to sixth grade.
