Lenihan Intermediate School
Marshalltown Schools are pleased to be part of the statewide voluntary preschool program.
The district houses the program at all elementary buildings and a community preschool, St. Paul’s, in a partnership to foster the love of learning for as many children as possible.
Classes meet weekday mornings 8:30-11:10 a.m. or afternoons 12:30-3:10 p.m. (12:30-2:10 on Wednesdays).
Children must be 4 years old before Sept. 15. The MCSD Preschool program is fully inclusive. Children with Special Education needs attend with their typical peers. All teachers are certified in Early Childhood and Special Education. Paraeducators, Speech-Language Pathologists and others provide on-site support.
Children develop language and literacy skills, learning and thinking skills, social skills, and large and small motor skills by using The Creative Curriculum for Preschool. The Iowa quality Preschool Program Standards and Iowa Early Learning Standards guide instruction.
Breakfast is provided for morning classes. Preschool classes also participate in the fruit and vegetable program through the school district. The program follows the same calendar as Marshalltown schools, with a few exceptions. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from preschool.
There is a one-time registration fee of $25. Monthly tuition will not be charged.
