Marshalltown High School cheerleaders traveled to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City Aug. 10 to perform in the Chiefs’ halftime show.

The students were part of Spirit Day, an opportunity for high school cheerleaders to work with Chiefs Cheerleaders and perform during an NFL halftime show. The students raised money for the trip and practiced during the summer. On Aug. 4 they attended a Spirit Day Clinic in preparation for last Friday’s show.

“The Kansas Chiefs cheerleading coach even came up to Stephanie Farrell and I and said how impressed she was with our squad!” said Jessica Cakrasenjaya. “Our MHS cheerleaders definitely represented Marshalltown, Iowa in a most positive light and enjoyed doing it.”

The Aug. 10 game was the first preseason game between the Chiefs and the Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs won 27-17.

“This year’s cheerleading squad is made up of very dedicated and caring individuals,” Cakrasenjaya said. “They are all looking forward to raising school spirit in the coming school year.”
