Bobcat Marching Band earns 13th consecutive Division I rating

Marshalltown High School’s Bobcat Marching Band earned its 13th consecutive Division I rating at the Iowa High School Music Association State Marching Band Festival Saturday, Oct. 12, in Fort Dodge.

The Bobcat musicians performed with 18 other bands in all classes in front of an appreciative audience and four judges. They performed their 2013 show, “Vortex”, featuring a four-movement work: the Calm, the Storm, the Aftermath, and the Recovery.

The band will honor its seniors during halftime of the final home football game this Friday, then travel to Waukee on Oct. 19, to perform along with 20 other bands at the Waukee Marching Invitational with a performance time of 9:15 p.m. at Waukee Stadium.

Their annual Band Extravaganza will be Monday Oct. 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the MHS/Community Auditorium and will feature Jazz I, Jazz II, the MHS Drill team and the Bobcat Marching Band. Admission is $3 for students, $5 for adults with activity cards honored.
