Woodbury Duck Dash raises money for playground

Woodbury Elementary held its Inaugural Duck Dash last night in Linn Creek, raising funds for new early childhood playground equipment.

More than 600 ducks were sold for $5 each. Seven business sponsors also purchased ducks for larger sums. The “Corporate Duck Dash” was held first, with the first, second and third place duck sponsors receiving traveling trophies to display until the next race.

Corporate Duck Dash Winners:

  1. Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center
  2. Lennox Industries
  3. Hogeland Auto Plaza

Yadi Yepez won grand prize in the Duck Dash, taking home a $250 Wal-Mart gift card. The first 20 people with ducks crossing the finish line earned prizes ranging from Family Video rentals to $25 Wal-Mart gift cards.

Before the Dash families enjoyed a meal courtesy of El Portal and Flamenco Dancers from Main Street Dance Academy.

The Duck Dash was organized by Families For Woodbury, the school’s parent-teacher organization.
