World Book Night is April 23: MHS Library a distribution hub for local givers

WBN2014 LogoNoBkgdMarshalltown High School Library is a local distribution hub for World Book Night, an international initiative to get print books into the hands of those who don’t regularly read and/or don’t normally have access.

World Book Night falls on April 23, the UNESCO International Day of the Book and Shakespeare’s birthday. Each year an independent panel of librarians and booksellers identifies 30-35 titles for World Book Night. Authors waive royalties and publishers agree to pay the cost of producing specially printed World Book Night U.S. editions. World Book Night givers are chosen based on an application process and their ability to reach non-readers.

MHS Library is serving as a hub for area givers, acting as the distribution point for the World Book Night titles. This year’s givers include numerous Marshalltown Community School District staff and Marshalltown community members.
