The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) Employee of the Quarter Award recognizes employees who provide excellence in service and attitude to our school community. Recipients are positive role models within their department and/or building and demonstrate a commitment to go above and expectations.
District Registrar Stacey Mommer at the Welcome Center was one of the first quarter recipients of the award for the 2023-24 school year, nominated by her colleagues Jacque Eisenbarth and Sarah Flugge.
“Stacey is an integral part of the Marshalltown Community School District,” Flugge and Eisenbarth wrote. “She is a dedicated, hard-working member of our team and without her the district would be at a huge loss.”

Why did you decide join the Marshalltown Community School District?
Growing up, attending, and graduating at MCSD added to the sense of pride that I would be representing a great community school district.
What do you enjoy most about being a member of the Bobcat community?
This is my 11th year of working in the school district, which means I have seen first-graders all the way to becoming seniors now. Just about a complete process. I enjoy the fact I have been a part of their educational journey. Another huge enjoyment is the people I get to work with each and every day.
What about your role at MCSD surprises you?
In this position I have learned so much from so many people of all ages, but when I am meeting with the new families and learning their stories with what they have been through and even how they have come to reside in Marshalltown, I admire the students that we are registering for school. Their adaptability, courage, their positivity, and how to appreciate everything that we have that is so easily taken for granted.
In your opinion, what makes Marshalltown Community School District special?
The community and partners with businesses learning to be involved with the schools, the families, staff, and students. I love seeing all the different versions and colors of the “M” around our district buildings and the community business partners. That really instills a strong sense of pride with district employees and the community members.
What does it mean to you to be a Bobcat?
Sense of pride. I get to be a part of making a difference, watching students grow, change and make a difference. Also, coming from a very athletically involved family I love staying involved with the Bobcat athletics now too.
