Employee of the Quarter Spotlight: Stacy Galema

The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) Employee of the Quarter Award recognizes employees who provide excellence in service and attitude to our school community. Recipients are positive role models within their department and/or building and demonstrate a commitment to go above and expectations.

Athletic Assistant Stacy Galema at Marshalltown High School was one of the first quarter recipients of the award for the 2023-24 school year, nominated by Activities Director Ryan Isgrig.

“Stacy actively cultivates collaboration, communication, and cooperation by maintaining regular and effective contact with various stakeholders, including teachers, fellow coaches, event volunteers, media personnel, and administrators, fostering strong connections across our school community and other schools as well,” Isgrig wrote.

Get to know Galema and her story:

Why did you decide join the Marshalltown Community School District?

I have always been a Bobcat. As a student, a coach, volunteer and now in my *newer” role, I’m able to assist others in many capacities from developing life skills to competing and showing pride in the work so many in our district are accomplishing.

What do you enjoy most about being a member of the Bobcat community?

In my role, I am able to help a lot of different people. I work with students, coaches, teachers and staff, administration, officials, other schools, state organizations, media and (of course) the Marshalltown community overall. Life is always about the people you surround yourself with, and I’m fortunate to work with so many special people on a daily basis.

What about your role at MCSD surprises you?

There is always so much great news to share, events to promote and people to celebrate.

In your opinion, what makes Marshalltown Community School District special?

MCSD is full of great people who care about our students and our community.

What does it mean to you to be a Bobcat?

Being a Bobcat is doing your best to not only do what’s required but going above and beyond. Being a Bobcat is caring for those around you, taking pride in who you are and where you’re from while being hard working, diligent and strong. Being a Bobcat is being patient but energized. In short, being a Bobcat is special.
