MCSD Selects Architecture Firm for Miller Middle School Planning

The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) is pleased to announce the selection of Invision Architecture, for the planning of future facility improvements to Miller Middle School. 

Interest and consideration was afforded to PK-12 planning firms from across the state of Iowa. After an extensive qualification and vetting process by the district’s Facility Committee, interviews were conducted by the district’s Board of Directors; it was determined that Invision aligned best to implement the goals of:

  • Improve and transform physical conditions
  • Introduce future-ready learning environments
  • Enhance technology, safety and security
  • Recondition historically significant community-based spaces

“Your district has considered some of the top education-focused design firms- your undertaking of this selection process has not been a simple one,” said Pete Perez of Boyd Jones and MCSD’s Construction Manager.

Invision Architecture is based out of Waterloo, Iowa and has offices in Des Moines. They have been serving clients for over 100 years and are a team of over 80 professionals. Among various areas of practice are: PK12 Education, Higher Education, and Civic & Community.

“We are very excited to now be in a position to see what we need to do to envision and make improvements to the Miller Middle School facility, which will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025, in order to best ensure high quality teaching, learning and activities spaces continues for our students for the next 100 years,” said Superintendent Dr. Theron Schutte.

An existing facility condition assessment is currently underway and will be used to inform stakeholders on current conditions of Miller Middle School. This assessment will also be utilized to evaluate the long-term viability of systems, needed repairs, and identify budget ranges for potential repairs. 

The consultant team will begin by acquiring background material, conducting stakeholder listening sessions, followed by master planning exercises that will be tested by students, teachers, staff, administrators, the Board of Directors, and the community MCSD serves. Community outreach and engagement will be a top priority as the district looks forward to conducting an inclusive and multi-lingual process.
