Anson students earn chance to be ‘Principal for a Day’

Third-grader Trevor Ketcham and fourth-grader Veronica Reynoso exercised their leadership skills when they took the reins at Anson Elementary as “Principals for a Day” March 16.

Trevor and Veronica were chosen to assist Principal Bea Niblock because of their hard work during the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. Teachers nominated students who worked hard and took the exam very seriously. Out of those nominees two names were drawn from a hat.

During their day-long tenure as Anson principals, Trevor and Veronica were tasked with all the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of a principal. They conducted classroom observations, worked lunchroom duty and recess and engaged in some problem solving work with a group of kindergarteners.

In the afternoon they met with Dr. Susan Pecinovsky, assocate superintendent for student achievement, to discuss curriculum.
