Soldier visits Miller classroom that sent care packages to troops

US Serviceman Scott McLain spent Wednesday with Janine Miller’s language arts students, discussing his time overseas and thanking them for the 31 care packages they sent during the holidays.

McClain, who is back on leave from Afghanistan for 14 days to attend his son’s graduation, shared photos with the students and showed some of the items he brought back from the Middle East, including some semi-precious stones and a camel-bone box.

Students in Mrs. Miller’s class collected food, snacks and toiletries for the troops and small toys for them to hand out to Afghani children. The goal of 10 boxes was quickly eclipsed as the students’ generous spirit brought in more donations.
