Students from Fisher Elementary School raised $1,574.53 for the House of Compassion supply closet during a recent penny war at the school. Students presented a check to House of Compassion Director Karen Frohwein during a special assembly on February 28.

Frohwein thanked the students for the donation.

“It is amazing that you collected all that money,” Frohwein told the students. “That’s going to help hundreds of people in Marshalltown.”

The supply closet helps those in need with basic supplies to use around the house.

“We wanted to help people in Marshalltown who may not be able to get the basic things they need,” said Fisher student Tyler Dorothy.
