Rogers Elementary School students are pictured at a recently-planted garden at the Iowa State University Marshall County Extension Office on May 24. The students visited the office after school to help with the planting of vegetables.

Rogers Elementary School students helped plant a wide variety of vegetables as part of an after school field trip to the Iowa State University Marshall County Extension Office on May 24.

Zucchini, onions, tomatoes and several other vegetables were planted near the office as part of the partnership with ISU Extension.

This summer, students in the Rogers University summer program will tend to the crops and harvest them. This is an extension of the gardens already on the grounds of Rogers Elementary School.

Chelsea Martens, garden coordinator with ISU Extension, said the students were very excited to be part of the planting process.
