Bobcat Café opens Monday, Sept. 8

Marshalltown Community School District is excited to announce that Bobcat Café will reopen for the first semester of the 2025–26 school year on Monday, September 8. The student-led coffee shop, located at the B.A. Niblock MCSD Orpheum Welcome Center, will once again welcome the community for a new year of learning, leadership, and connection.

Originally launched in March 2024, Bobcat Café was created through the hard work and dedication of Marshalltown High School students participating in the school’s culinary and entrepreneurship program. The café blends education with real-world experience, offering students hands-on opportunities to develop skills in coffee preparation, customer service, and café operations while also exploring business management and teamwork.

Beyond its role as an educational space, Bobcat Café continues to serve as a welcoming hub for the community. Guests enjoy quality coffee and friendly service while directly supporting the growth of Marshalltown’s future leaders. Each purchase helps sustain the program and celebrates the creativity and commitment of the students behind the counter.

“Bobcat Café gives our students a unique opportunity to apply what they learn in the classroom in a real-world setting,” said MHS Family and Consumer Science Teacher Jules McGrew. “It’s inspiring to watch them grow as leaders while also creating something the community can enjoy.”

Bobcat Café will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., offering a convenient and welcoming space for morning visitors. The café’s operations follow the district’s academic calendar, with hours aligned to the school year schedule.

As the year unfolds, students plan to expand menu offerings, adding new beverages and treats for guests to enjoy.
