A Century of Community Pride
Nestled beside Franklin Elementary along West Main Street, Franklin Field has stood for over 100 years as a proud symbol of Marshalltown’s athletic spirit and community commitment. First dedicated in 1922 through the efforts of students and local families, this historic field has hosted generations of athletes, unforgettable victories, and even a few legendary seasons.
From its early days as the home of the Marshalltown High School Bulldogs — before becoming the Bobcats — to its current role serving Miller Middle School and the greater community, Franklin Field is more than a venue; it’s a tradition.
Now, as we begin an exciting new chapter through the “Reimagine Miller” project, Franklin Field is poised to serve future generations with modern updates and expanded access.

Renovation Underway
The Franklin Field renovation is a key component of the Reimagine Miller project — made possible by the $57 million bond referendum overwhelmingly approved by 68% of voters in November 2024. With a project cost of approximately $6.9 million, the revitalization of this historic space reflects our community’s commitment to expanding opportunities for students and families on Marshalltown’s north side.
Bids were opened on March 19, followed by a public hearing at the March 24 School Board meeting. The school board approved Trade Partner Contracts to work on the Franklin Field Project.
